Results
Both sites were “excellent” according to fish and macroinvertebrate indicators. The sites were equal in the number of fish species (25) but more individual fish were captured at the Edgewood site (518 vs. 335). Both sites had several species of pollution-intolerant darters and suckers, and relatively few species of fish that are pollution tolerant.

We captured more macroinvertebrate individuals and species at the Millwood site, but the CIV values were nearly equal (29 at Millwood and 27 at Edgewood). Pollution intolerant macroinvertebrates common to both sites included certain caddisflies, mayflies, gilled snails, stoneflies and water penny and riffle beetles. The more quantitative analysis in the laboratory indicated more difference between the sites, with pollution intolerant species being considerably more abundant at the Millwood site.
